Fatherly Woes - American Funniest Home Videos
Heh. It's father's day today. To all dads out there, enjoy this wonderful day, rest your weary bones from all the burdens that you solemnly swore an oath upon when you decided to get all romantic and boogied yourself to a baby 9 months later *laughs*
Dads are wonderful people in the world. To sons, they are the sort of inspiration that you can't find elsewhere (well, its disputed though but from my own perspective) .... to daughter's a trustable and friendly guy whom you can ask about haha, guy stuff.
Fathers usually don't get the recognition they deserve. They have to bear the brunt of bringing up and keeping a family intact, ensure a secure flow of cash into his bank account and .. haha .. joint bank accounts (to keep his wife happy) and always, always be the man of the house.
Lol, therefore, we ought to show them appreciation for all the back-breaking labour that they have to carry upon themselves.
For father's day today, everything at home was pretty much the same. I greeted my dad with a "HAPPY FATHER'S DAY" at approximately 11 am as he catapulted out of his la-la land and back into reality. He was utterly flabbergasted to see me, his son, standing in front of the bed grinning at him. Haha. Anyone else would have screamed his or her head off. Lol. He was probably still in a zombie-like state and just muttered an almost inaudible thank you.
In the evening, my mom decided that we should go out and have dinner ourselves since our extended father's day dinner was effectively postponed. The four of us including my brother and dad went to the Chicken House near Thomson Plaza to celebrate Father's Day dinner. It was nothing fancy. It was just a plain eatery infested with people and sulky waitresses that their cheeks almost dropped onto the floor. Lol.
It felt great, just the four of us. Having family dinner again. We usually never have time for that. My dad is always flying around somewhere, timbuktu or monalisa-land .. whatever and when he's in town, he'll only be back after ten. Mom, on the other hand would encourage us to have family dinners but since she re-ignited her career and boosted her prospects, has also stared to come home late. Me, don't need to ask. I'm always busy and my brother is also busy with school. His crucial year right now, I think he's seating for IGCSE or something as he is riding on the choo-choo train, taking the "A" Levels instead and bypassing the "O" Levels. I've still been pestering him to take his "O" levels just in case. Lol, and he would sarcastically reply saying that I have no confidence with him. Haha
Anyways, we're a close-knit family. Yea. We love each other to bits but it's just that we're spending lesser time with one another. I just want to get to know what's going on in their lives and such. One famil dinner wouldn't hurt right. Haha, at least some good news came a few weeks ago. My mom decided to implement a compulsary family dinner two times a week once we move in to our new houses. Yeah, moving into a new house, a new life, and everyone starts to create new resolutions. My dad wants to learn how to cook now that we will be having a dry kitchen, my brother wants to learn basketball now that we have space for a basketball stand. Lol, and me? I have no plans whatsoever. I just wanna move in godamnit!!
Ok, phasing back into my original story, we went to Thomson Plaza after dinner and I quickly rushed to Royal Sporting House to get new sports gear. My swimming trunks broke so I got a new replacement. I got myself a new shoe, haha, everyone has been complaining that my current shoe has outlived its shelf life and I also got myself new outfits. Sweet.
I'm home now and I just have to prepare myself for tomorrow's group project meeting. I foresee it to be grueling and therefore I see myself sleeping earlier tonight too. Haha. It was a splendid day (excluding having a terrible sorethroat) and I'll end my post right here I guess. Thx for even bothering to read !!
Good night and to all daddies, happy father's day once again.
